keep me quiet for old-fashioned or backward, but I say that some in our society have lost respect for the age, the office or the knowledge!
Our former Federal President Horst Köhler justified his resignation, among other things, that some lack of respect for the office of head of state. I myself was never a big fan of Kohler, I even think that he in no way linked to his great predecessor was able to continue. Yet behind the Office of the President more than just the person who fills it. This office belongs to the basic understanding of our democracy.
is not to say that a President can not be criticized. Nevertheless, a critique can be formulated with respect. A comparison with the suffering from dementia President Lübke is therefore not appropriate.
Keller would not have to resign because of the lack of respect and yet he had every right to his call for a respectful treatment of his person in that office.
Whether Christian Wulff can generate a new understanding of ministry, is questionable and I doubt it. In the end, I am also not clear whether great respect from the rest of the politicians convinced that was conjured up a few days after the resignation of Kohler's successor out of the hat? A bit of reflection in a vacuum after the resignation would probably not hurt the Office!
